Reborning is a relatively new process of changing an old baby doll into a more realistic version of a newborn baby - still a doll, however looks like a newborn baby, preemie, or even a toddler.
The involved process requires many time consuming hours, either removing all the paint and hair from an older doll or by starting the process anew with a purchased mold from a number of very accomplished artists.
The Reborning artist applies layers and layers of special paint that will eventually during the process become, non-removeable. Baby fine hair is added by micro-rooting one or two hairs at a time, including the eye-lashes. Tiny veins and cappillaries are visible through the baby skin for extra realism. The fingernails and toenails are given a freshly bathed, manicured look. Nothing is overlooked. Every possible detail is considered to create a baby that is life-like in as many ways as possible.
Each baby is given a very soft, cloth body that is filled with baby fat-like pellets to create a weighted baby that is soft and squishy to hold just like a newborn. No sand is ever used in the life-like weighting process. The head is also weighted and must be supported, just like a newborn baby.
Rose Cottage Reborns are scented with a baby powder scent and they all are given a magnetic pacifier, (all magnetics must be carefully considered around electonic devices and pacemakers). My babies are a joy to create and are created in a loving, clean environment. Each baby is given a specially choosen layette, blankie, toy, bottle, extra diaper, a birth certificate, and care instructions so that each baby is a heirloom that can be handed down for generations to come.
Rose Cottage Reborn Creations creates and sends each adopted baby to their new home with love, care, and concern for their journey. Almost as much attention is given to the packaging of an adopted baby for travel as was put into their creation. You will not be disappointed.
